Who Was Lilla G. Frederick?
by Deb Socia, Principal

Lilla G. Frederick, after whom our school was named, was a wonderful community activist who lived in our neighborhood for most of her life. Her kind heart and caring ways were known by many, and she inspired us all by her incredible spirit. As part of the original planning committee, she helped to structure our school. Her presence is felt in our building every day. She advocated for a strong arts program, the uniforms, high standards for academic achievement and behavior, before and after school programming, and for our school to be the hub of the neighborhood. Though I miss her and think of her every day, I like to think that we at the Lilla G. Frederick are honoring her memory with our efforts to bring her vision to reality.
